There has been a lot of discussions on the Battlefield forums regarding the Battlefield 2 Update 1.50, so this is to let you all know what’s happening.
Update 1.50 is still in development, we have held back on releasing the update as we have become aware of and are taking preventative measures against 3rd party tools which have been severely affecting everyone’s playing experience recently by crashing dedicated servers, clients as well as allowing account spoofing. We hope you understand our decision to delay the release to resolve these issues rather than releasing early with a need to update again.
We are looking to release this update by Winter of this year.

According to a report in the Viet Nam News gamers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can earn up to VND2.7 million (€100) per month thanks to the boom in power-levelling and gold farming.
Wealthier gamers with little time to grind out level increases are paying other people, usually students or the unemployed, to play for them.
Gold farming in MMO games is already widespread across China and it now looks like Vietnam is following in this profitable, if unusual industry. The report adds that companies are now springing up in the major cities offering their unique service.

On the forums we often see discussions about whether there will ever be another update for the game. Well, today we are happy to announce that we are working on an update for Battlefield 2. In a world exclusive event, on Friday the 20th of June, a massive bombshell was dropped on netGameRadio's 'The Inside Battlefield Show'. In an exclusive world soaring interview, it was confirmed that on Monday, the 23rd of June, to coincide with Battlefield 2's third birthday, gamers will see a new patch coupled with exciting original maps.
The interview was directly with John Hargelid, a Live Producer from DICE, Sweden, who confirmed that support for Battlefield 2 is not over, and that an announcement regarding a possible new patch and maps will be announced on Monday. The question that was directly answered included references to a patch, maps, and gaming modes.
Whilst 'The Inside Battlefield Show' has been, to date, a local production for the value of our listener base in Australia and New Zealand, netGameRadio received world wide gaming press attention with the release of this information. Planet Battlefield, Total Gaming Network, GameTrailers, BF2s, Gamespot, i3d, and local ISP Internode, are all talking about our recent interview with DICE, and eagerly awaiting the announcement on Monday.
